Mott FoundationGrant Purpose - The program goal is to promote regional cooperation among journalists that results in more accurate and objective analyses of political, social, and economic developments in the Balkan region. The Balkan Investigative Reporting Network is the regional coordination center for a network that includes six other media organizations across the Balkans. The grantee and other network members work together to regularly analyze key transition issues for the public and policymakers, publish weekly reports, and organize training events and public debates. During the past two years, the grantee has published over 110 issues of "Balkan Insight" with more than 600 analytical reports, in-depth analyses, and investigations, and it has improved its Web site, which is part of a longer-term plan to offer income-generating publishing, training, and research services. The grantee is based in Sarajevo, and the network includes member organizations in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia.
