Grant Purpose - This grant continues partial funding for the Community Foundation Initiative in Germany, a project originally started by the Bertelsmann Stiftung and now managed by the Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen (the Association of German Foundations). Currently, there are 150 community foundations in Germany with a combined capital of more than 53 million Euro. This program provides these new and emerging German community foundations with a range of support services, including technical assistance, peer learning workshops, information sharing opportunities, legal advice, and an accreditation process. In addition to these ongoing activities, in 2008-2010, the Community Foundation Initiative in Germany plans to deepen its connections with community foundations in neighboring Eastern European countries through workshops and site visits. Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen represents the foundation community in Germany.
