In 1999, a group of community leaders began meeting to explore the feasibility of a community foundation in Dubuque, Iowa. After completing the research, the group was convinced that the community leadership and nonprofit support a community foundation provides was important to Dubuque’s future. The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque was incorporated in October of 2001 and went public in October of 2002. An office was opened in the Dubuque Building on February 1, 2003 and the President/CEO was named.
