The Rockefeller Foundation is putting its money where its mouth is to fight hunger.
The foundation is the first philanthropy to join the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, which was launched last week by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization, the Brazilian ambassador to the UN, and the foundation's president, Rajiv Shah, the New York Times reports.
As part of the Alliance, the Rockefeller Foundation plans to provide financial resources, technical assistance, capacity building support, and knowledge and data to member countries that are implementing school meal programs, according to a press release.
"Rockefeller's leadership in advancing sustainable solutions for vulnerable populations, especially in the realm of nutritious school meals, strengthens Brazil's efforts to fight these global challenges and to ensure that effective, long-term, evidence-based solutions reach those most in need," says Carla Barroso Carneiro, Brazil's ambassador to the UN.
