A paper mill in New Bern, NC, is closing down in 2024, but that doesn't mean the local community is going to lose out on any money.
The New Bern Times-News reports the International Paper Foundation will be awarding $73,000 in grants to local nonprofit organizations.
The money will go to programs that address hunger, education, disaster relief, health and wellness, and the environment.
"At International Paper, we are proud invest in the communities where our employees live and work," a rep says.
"We understand that if our communities don't succeed, we don't succeed."
The grants will be awarded based on International Paper's signature causes: education hunger, health and wellness, disaster relief, and the environment.
