Michigan has given the green light to what could be the biggest development in the state's history.
The state's Strategic Fund board has approved a $250 million grant to help develop 1,000 acres of farmland in Flint's Mundy Township, reports the Detroit Free Press.
The site would be used for advanced manufacturing, and it's expected to bring 2,000 jobs and $2 billion in investment to the area.
Opponents of the development say they're worried about the impact on the environment.
"It's the technology that has destroyed our environment," said one local resident.
"This is absolutely disgusting."
But state board members received no questions before approving the grant, and the executive director of the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance said it's "an important piece of the long-term efforts to attract investment, create both white and blue collar jobs."
