The US State Department is sending a $50,000 grant to India to create a podcast that it hopes will inspire the country's entrepreneurs to use innovation and technology to combat climate change, the Washington Free Beacon reports.
The podcast, which will be produced through the US embassy in New Delhi, is expected to reach at least half a million listeners in its first six months, according to the State Department, which says it hopes the podcast will "enhance India's commitment to combating climate change" and persuade Indian "entrepreneurs and innovators of opportunities" to live "lifestyles with more sustainable choices."
The podcast will be hosted by an American expert who has "demonstrated leadership and innovation in taking action to combat climate change," and at least 10% of listeners "should engage in a dialogue on social media through a dedicated hashtag committing to a sustainable lifestyle," according to the State Department, which says it supports "a wide range of strategic programs around the world."
The Free Beacon notes that the Biden administration has been sending taxpayer dollars abroad to support odd climate change initiatives, including a $1 million grant last year to help disabled people in Tajikistan become "climate leaders" and a $1 million grant in March to teach more than two dozen Brazilian "trans activists" how to speak English.
