Singer-songwriter and rapper Queen Latifah bags the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Community Award for her philanthropic contributions in Newark.
The musician is one of the honorees to attend the medical center's annual Partners in Progress banquet. Newark Beth Israel deems Queen Latifah worthy of the award after her family's Lancelot H. Owens Scholarship Foundation, established after the death of her brother in 1992, and her many charitable efforts in Newark's community.
