The Washington Post has received a grant from the Ford Foundation totaling $500,00 to strengthen the coverage of their government-accountability issues.
The Post has weathered financial stresses and steadily reduced its newsroom and editorial staff. Part of their strategy has been to replace experienced journalists with younger, less experienced reporters whose salaries are much lower.
