The DeKalb County Community Foundation has received the historical train depot as a donation from the Sycamore City Council. The two-storey part of the building will be used for offices, meeting rooms and daily activities while the 2,000 square foot room on the north wing will be allotted for a community meeting room open for nonprofits and civic groups.
There are other foundations that has awarded grant in order to support the construction in the train depot. Among these foundations are the Douglas C. and Lynn M. Roberts Foundation which offered an amount of $300,000 while Sycamore City dedicated $100,000 in tax increment financing funds. The rest of the costs will be covered by the DeKalb County Community Foundation amounting to $750,000.
