The University of California in Berkeley, California Institute of Technology, and University of Washington in Seattle were awarded with grants totaling $6 million by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation to create a prototype earthquake warning system for the Pacific Coast of the United States.
The grant will allow the seismologists of the universities to learn about the science of earthquakes and the best way to capture and analyze seismic data.
