The $1 million legacy gift to Monarch School is from the estate of Ernest Llynn Lotecka, a San Diego-based behavioral health psychologist.
"This gift enables us to train more San Diego and California educators to support unhoused students," the school says.
The $335M award is part of the San Diego Foundation's 50th anniversary campaign.
The foundation also awarded $3.5 million to the Dr. Seuss Foundation to help children ages 0 to 5 thrive.
