Community Foundation Women'S Fund Awards $65000 to Local Nonprofit

The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore's Women's Fund has awarded $65,000 to nine organizations that help women and girls in three Maryland counties, the Salisbury Independent reports.

Among the recipients: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore, which will use the money to support a Barbie-themed campaign that will promote mental health, self-esteem, and support for girls facing adversity.

Catholic Charities, which will use the money to provide women with rent, utilities, and bus tickets for transportation to access community resources and employment.

Faith Over Fear Economic Empowerment, which will educate young women about financial literacy and investing through participation in the Jr.

Wallstreeters program.

The Salvation Army, which will use the money to cover the annual cost of medical equipment used by forensic nurse examiners to conduct interviews with child victims of abuse.

Salisbury University, which will provide business counseling, one-on-one mentoring, and access to funding for women seeking to open or grow their own businesses.
