More than $3.6 million is going to four Iowa community colleges to help more high school students get a leg up in their future careers.

Gov.

Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Education announced the grants Thursday from the Iowa Career Academy Incentive Fund, the Des Moines Register reports.

"I applaud Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, Iowa Valley Community District Western Community College, and Iowa Central Community College for their work to grow students in Iowa careers here in Iowa," Reynolds said in a statement.

The four community colleges will each receive a $1 million grant.

They will use the money to expand or modernize high school career academies at their campuses, add new lab space for those academies, and offer more courses in cybersecurity, robotics, and precision agriculture.
