The American Red Cross in West Virginia is getting $20,000 to help with disaster response in the wake of last month's tornadoes.
The money will go to the Belpre Volunteer Fire Department, which will use it to buy protective gear for members, as well as to buy new Chromebooks and accessories for a music classroom at a local school, reports the Herald-Dispatch.
The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, meanwhile, has awarded $488,515 in grants.
Among the other projects: $20,000 to the Real West Virginia Foundation to create a documentary series titled "West Virginia Makes."
$10,000 to replace a broken display in the "Day on a Farm" oil program at the Calhoun County Public Library.
$5,000 to purchase sound equipment for concerts and events at the City of Ravenswood's BOPARC (Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners) $10,000 to add a chairlift to the 4th floor theater greenroom/reception area Doddridge County Parks and Recreation Commission $12,000 for Little League Baseball Field repairs downtown PKB $5,000 to support the Point Park Concert Series Family Resource Network of Roane County $10,000 to support supplemental food bags for school-age youth and senior citizens First Assembly of God $1,000 to furnish the new room to be added to the Volcano Museum at Mountwood Park $7,000 to purchase steel pan drum
