May was a record-breaking month for nonprofits in Rappahannock, Fauquier, Culpeper, and Madison counties in Virginia.
The Give Local Piedmont program of the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation saw a record-breaking 225 nonprofits participate, with more than $1.14 million raised, reports the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
The total for the past 11 years is more than $10.2 million.
This year there were 3,212 donors who made 6,590 donations to reach that million-dollar figure, according to nonprofit representatives.
The largest donation came in at $25,000.proudly, Northern Piedmont Community Foundation is a public charity that builds philanthropic capital to enhance and preserve the quality of life in the four counties.Fauquier Free Clinic led the way with 210 unique donors, raising a total of $40,743.
RappCats secured 199 donations for $35,263, and the Mental Health Association of Fauquier County had 162 donors for $39,204.Ninety percent of the donors covered the fees, and 90 nonprofits experienced growth in donations compared to last year.
