Mike DeWine says the Appalachian Community Grant Program represents "a historic, $500 million investment in Ohio's 32 Appalachian counties."

The state has allocated $21.9 million in grant funding to four projects in Gallia County, including a new childcare center, reports WV News.

The projects are in the healthcare, community health, and downtown redevelopment categories.

"Access to quality childcare is critical to every community's continued health and growth," says Troy Miller, chief strategy officer for Holzer Health System, which will be constructing the childcare center.

The project is expected to serve more than 100 children of health care workers.
