Rancho Santa Fe Foundation Awards $200K in Advancing Education

A nonprofit that provides after-school dance classes and other services to youth living in poverty in San Diego has been awarded $200,000 from a local philanthropic group, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The grants from the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation will go to A Step Beyond and Casa de Amistad.

"This support not only aids in overcoming COVID-19-induced learning loss but also illuminates a promising path for our students to reach and fulfill their dreams," says A Step Beyond CEO James Wright.

A Step Beyond will use the money to expand its after-school dance classes and academic support to at-risk youth.

Casa de Amistad will use the money to strengthen underserved youth and families through tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment activities.

"By supporting endeavors that address learning loss in third through eighth-grade students in San Diego County, we believe we can bridge educational gapsgaps that only widened during the pandemicand create a ripple effect to positively impact our region's academic landscape for generations to come," says Karen Sprigle, interim president and CEO of the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation.
