For more than a decade, NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson and his wife, Chandra, have been putting their money where their mouth is.
The Jimmie Johnson Foundation, which they started in 2006, has given more than $13 million to 18 schools, according to a Wednesday tweet from the foundation.
The majority of the grants $468,462.47go to K-12 public education, but the foundation also supports arts, literacy, and health programs, as well as the Blue Bunny of Hope and Team Up for Technology grant programs, NASCAR reports.
"These noble deeds that the veteran racer does for the benefit of society will only increase the immense love and respect that the fans already have for him," NASCAR says in a statement.
"We, as motorsport enthusiasts, salute his countless endeavors towards the betterment of students and communities in need."
