Applied Materials' 'Face of Philanthropy' Stepping Down in 2024

In early 2024, one of Silicon Valley's most high-profile philanthropists is retiring, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
"I'm going to miss colleagues here at Applied Materials and the philanthropic world," Siobhan Kenney says.
"They've always been so generous with their time in helping us to understand the community and understand what their vision is in meeting community needs."
Kenney has been with Applied Materials for 25 years, serving as senior director of global community affairs and executive director of the Applied Materials Foundation.
She'll be replaced by Katie Ferrick, who worked at LinkedIn.
Ferrick will take over for Kenney, who'll stay on for a few months in an advisory role.
"We see a clear connection between the innovation tech firms rely on the creativity of the arts, and so we've been able to go beyond what some funders are able to do," Kenney says.
