Joy~Nostalg Fosters the Joy of Giving This Holiday Season

"We often notice how our city becomes brighter during the festive season, but energy poverty still makes this same spark of Christmas a little harder to see in so many villages," says social entrepreneur Ilac Diaz, whose Liter of Light movement has installed more than 350,000 bottle lights in more than 15 countries.

To help brighten those lives, the five-star Joy's Nostalg Hotel & Suites managed by Accor in Manila, Philippines, is partnering with Diaz's group to provide solar-powered lights to a community that lives 90 minutes away from the hotel, reports Mashable.

The hotel's employees "personally assembled and delivered the lights, receiving overwhelming joy and gratitude from the community," says General Manager Odette Huang in a press release.

"We often notice how our city becomes brighter during the festive season, but energy poverty still makes this same spark of Christmas a little harder to see in so many villages," says Diaz, whose group has turned cheap materials into high-quality solar lighting sources for people with limited or no access to electricity.
