Oilman and philanthropist Jim Henry has died at the age of 88, and the Midland College community is paying tribute.
The college's flag will fly at half-staff on Oct.
23, the day of Henry's memorial service, reports the Odessa American.
Henry and his wife, Paula, donated millions to the college, including $1 million to the West Texas Symposium of History, the West Texas Journal of History, and the Henry Chair of History, per a release.
Henry also served on the steering committee of the Midland College Advanced Technology Center and was a Midland College Foundation board member from 2010 until September of this year.
"Jim and his wife Paula endowed the West Texas Symposium of History, West Texas Journal of History, and the Henry Chair of History," says the release.
"Most recently the Henry Foundation invested $1 million in the Midland College Pre-K Academy and Center for Teaching Excellence."
