South Carolina's SCETV and Public Radio are teaming up to raise money for the Newberry Opera House, which is celebrating its 25th season this year, the State reports.
The public radio station and SCETV will each donate $25,000 to the opera house, which will use the money to buy advertising time on the station's website and make other donations.
"The parallels between our missions and clear; education, culture and dialogue in South Carolina, which not only aligns with our values, but it also allows us to contribute to the cultural enrichment of all of South Carolina in a broader way," Newberry Opera House Executive Director Anne Pinckney-Smith says in a press release.
The opera house's 25th season kicks off on Sept.
7 with Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, followed by country music artiste The Oak Ridge Boys on Sept.
15 and Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder on Sept.
16.
"Jumping genres mid-month, the Opera House will feature a piano concert performed by Newberry College's Dr. Sarah Masterson, who presents a unique look at Philippa Schuyler, an almost-forgotten African-American composer and concert pianist from the early twentieth century," the press release says.
The season wraps up on Sept.
