The Blue and Janice Miller Charitable Fund has awarded $98,000 in grants to nine charities in Henderson County, Texas.
The fund was established in 2007 by Janice Miller, who died in 2007 at the age of 73, the Athens Messenger reports.
"Mrs. Miller made plans before her death in 2007 establish an endowment fund that continues to fulfill her charitable objectives in her beloved community," says the president of the East Texas Communities Foundation, which administers the fund.
Among the recipients are the Henderson County HELP Center, which houses Maggie's House Child Advocacy Center, which provides therapy sessions to children who have been the victims of abuse and neglect.
"These additional sessions will allow our clients to see there is a light at the end of their complex trauma," says the center's executive director.
