In 2006, Warren Buffett became the biggest donor in history when he pledged 99% of his Berkshire Hathaway stock to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Now, 17 years later, he's passed the $43.5 billion mark, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.
Buffett has given the Gates Foundation $39.3 billion, the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation $4.2 billion, and four other foundations linked to his familythe Sherwood, Howard G.
Buffett, and Novo foundations $2.4 billion each.
"I don't think I'm as well cut out to be a philanthropist as Bill and Melinda are," Buffett told Fortune in 2006.
