Detroit's Clark Park has a new splash pad, sports courts, playground, picnic shelter, and moreand it's all thanks to some generous donors and community input, the Detroit Free Press reports.

"With the help of the City and generous corporate and philanthropic donors, our community youth and residents have more opportunities to play safely and learn new sports," Anthony Benavides, director of the Clark Park Coalition, says in a press release.

"Clark Park has long been a place where people gather, play, and build long-lasting memories."

The park in southwest Detroit is one of the city's oldest, having been built in the 1800s, the Detroit News reports.

It's one of the city's most inclusive public parks, Benavides says.

The $2.3 million project was funded with money from the City of Detroit, the Gilbert Family Foundation, and the Kresge Foundation.

"We made these investments after extensive engagement and input from neighbors and students," Invest Detroit rep Maureen Anway says.
