The Portland Press Herald has named two new community leaders in Maine. Charles Nero of Lewiston and Melissa Hue of Portland have been named to the Androscoggin County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation. The committee is made up of community members who serve as ambassadors for the foundation, sharing their knowledge and providing on-the-ground local leadership. The foundation supports a wide range of projects in the state, including arts, education, environment, economic development, and human services. Nero is a professor of rhetoric, film, and screen studies at Bates College, where he serves on several committees. Hue is the diversity, equity, and inclusion director for Lewiston. She serves on the boards of Special Olympics and New Beginnings.
