"Deep listening" may not be a term you'd typically associate with nonprofits, but that's exactly what a group of Stanford University researchers is calling for at its upcoming 2022 Nonprofit Management Institute, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

According to the Stanford Social Innovation Review, the purpose of the three-day eventwhich will take place at the Stanford Graduate School of Business on Sept.

13 and 14is "to explore the role of civil society organizations in finding common ground, ways to facilitate collaboration, combatting disinformation, and other topics."

The SSIR has a full list of speakers and sessions for the event, which it says will "focus on opportunities to bridge the divides that exist in society."

In a press release, the NMI's co-founder and executive director, Beth Nothias, says the event will focus on "how to have better political conversations," as well as "how the nonprofit sector is poised to play a leading role in bridging America's divides."

Nothias tells the Mercury News she wants the event to be "a place where people from all walks of life can come together, learn from each other, and learn how to work together for the greater good."
