The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde in Oregon is giving back to the community it calls home.
The tribe's Spirit Mountain Community Fund has awarded $862,835 in grants to 28 nonprofit organizations in seven counties, KATU reports.
"Our check presentations are a way to come together as a community, to give thanks and recognize our grantees for their incredible efforts to help those in need," says the fund's executive director.
Since its inception in 1997, the fund has awarded 3,164 grants totaling $88,788,116 to nonprofit organizations in Northwest Oregon, KATU notes.
