The Long Beach Community Foundation is offering a number of scholarships, including one for students who were "safely surrendered at birth," the Long Beach Press-Telegram reports. According to a press release, former LA County Supervisor Don Knabe started the "Safe Surrender" program to help students who were safely surrendered at birth. The scholarship is one of five offered by the foundation.
Other scholarships include the Early Childhood Educator Scholarship, the Larry Acterman Public Education Award, the Ensemble Scholarship Fund, and the Patricia K. Buck Scholarship Fund. The deadline to apply for all scholarships is March 31.
There also are seven donor-directed grants being handled by the Long Beach Community Foundation.
