Several grants have been awarded to local community groups and non-profit organizations through the Tuolumne County Community Grant Program, which was created in partnership with the Sonora Area Foundation.
The monies were made available as a result of assistance from the American Rescue Plan of $500,000, which was supplemented by an additional $183,000 from the Sonora Community Foundation.
An additional 40 grants ranging from $3,000 to $29,000 were awarded to community projects of all types, including recreation, the arts, and assistance to vulnerable populations. Two $50,000 grants were awarded to the ATCAA Food Bank and First 5, with the remaining 40 grants ranging from $3,000 to $29,000 awarded to other organizations.
Funding of $683,500 has been given via these programs.

A Gilesgate-based shop and community facility, Hexham’s Core Music, launches a separate workshop where up to six people will be trained how to repair guitars and make ukuleles. The European Social Fund grant supported the project and has secured funds through the County Durham Communication Foundation to equip the workshop in Burn Lane.
