Zanesville Mayor Don Mason sees the city's parks as a catalyst for improving quality of life for Zanesville residents.
The city has embarked on two major park projects and made smaller improvements to a number of others.
Work is ongoing to resurrect Chaps Run Park, which had been "virtually abandoned" over the last 20 to 30 years.
Park improvements will encourage nearby property owners to fix up their properties and encourage outside investment.
