Parents in Portland, Indiana, will soon have a new place to send their kids to preschool.
A $4.3 million renovation of the former Judge Haynes Elementary School has turned it into a state-of-the-art early learning center, reports the Indianapolis Star.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last week, and the school will open to the public in October.
The Portland Foundation purchased the former school two years ago, and the renovation included new plumbing, LED lighting, new flooring, paint, and new playground equipment.
"Today I am filled with a lot of gratitude as this Jay County Early Learning Center project comes to completion," says the executive director of the foundation, which led the effort.
