The Tawas Bay Art Council has been awarded $1,000 to install new flooring in its art gallery.
It's just one of five grants awarded by the Iosco County Community Foundation in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
The other four are: $5,000 to Oscoda Area Schools for its social work.
The funds will be used to purchase social-emotional on mental health disorders, social skills, therapeutic activities, and for sensory items and fidget materials for students.
$4,200 to Oscoda Township Police Department to support its Junior Police Academies program.
The grants will cover uniform expenses, lunches, educational materials, and travel expenses for youth attending the program.
$2,420 to Tawas Wellness Warriors for their Family Healthy Weight program.
The program is a comprehensive, family-based lifestyle change program aiming to help children make progress toward a healthy lifestyle through positive behavior changes.
$2,413 to Quota Club of Iosco County Charitable Foundation for interactive playground equipment to be added to Shoreline Park in Tawas City.
$1,000 to AuSable Valley Audubon to enhance a bird feeding station at Tawas Point State Park that will demonstrate healthy bird feeding practices for the public to emulate at home.
$500 to FISH Inc.
for its Christmas Gift House to purchase gift items for the 2024 season.
