River Severn Partnership Wins Second Award in a Week

The UK's River Severn has been named the best public partnership in the country for the second year in a row, the Guardian reports.

According to the Local Government Chronicle, judges called the River Severn Partnership's work "ground-breaking" for its "transformative impact on communities and the environment."

The Severn Catchment is home to 2.6 million people in England and Wales.

According to the Telegraph, it's one of the country's most flood-prone areas.

The partnership is made up of local governments, farmers, water companies, universities, and more.

It's working to prevent flooding in the first place.

"As a strategic rural partnership, the RSP pioneered an integrated approach to developing resilience in areas affected by flooding, redefining the management and utilisation of rivers as assets rather than liabilities," co-chair Mark Barrow says in a press release.

"We are delighted to have been recognized again by our peers and to have won second industry award for innovation."
