The Arc of Jefferson/Clearfield Counties and the Punxsutawney Area Historical & Geneological Society have each received a $500 bonus grant from the Punxsutawney Area Community Foundation in order to provide activities for local 11- to 14-year-olds.
"As a result of a needs assessment presented to local charitable organizations, it was determined that a need existed for more activities for those in the 11-14 age group," the foundation said in a press release.
The Arc plans to use the money for a visit from the Carnegie Science Center and the purchase of a keyboard for music activities for its "tweens" attending Camp Friendship.
The PAHGS plans to present a Wednesday History Hunter activity over five consecutive Wednesdays in July and August.
