In 2024, the Trust for Civic Life launched as a coalition of 23 philanthropies including the Ford, Carnegie, MacArthur and Rockefeller foundations.
It is to listen closely to communities, take guidance from their experience, and help create the conditions where voice, choice and shared responsibility can flourish again.
In "The Upswing," Putnam showed that trust, civic participation and opportunity in the United States have risen and fallen together.
