The Na Manu Elele Program first launched at Pololu Valley on Hawaii Island in 2022.
The Center for Biological Diversity sued the federal agency for not designating critical habitat when the species were listed in 2013 as endangered under the Endangered Species Act.
The invasive trees were harvested from the Nation of Hawaii, also known as Puauhonua O Waimanalo.
