Out-Of-State Nonprofit Questions the Distribution of Funds for Lewiston Shooting Victims

More than $6.6 million was donated to victims of the October shooting at Robb Elementary School in Lewiston, Maine, but an out-of-state nonprofit says some of that money may have ended up in the wrong hands.
The Mass Violence Survivors Fund says it's "concerned about the original vetting process, deserving individuals being vetted out of the care process, and additional reports that some funding was allegedly rerouted to the Resiliency Center, which has yet served its full purpose to the community."
The Maine Community Foundation created the Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund to streamline donations, and Jeff Dion, executive director of the Mass Violence Survivors Fund, says it was "some of the best response that I've seen out of all the 31 incidents I've been involved in."
But "we are currently concerned about the original vetting process, deserving individuals being vetted out of the care process, and additional reports that some funding was allegedly rerouted to the Resiliency Center, which has yet served its full purpose to the community," says Daniel Chapin, national director of the Uvalde Foundation for Kids.
