Those are the words of Gina Zottola, vice president of Advancement and Philanthropic Innovation at the Humboldt Area Foundation, at a recent reception for the more than 10,000 youths in Humboldt, Del Norte, Trinity, and Curry counties who received grants of up to $2,000 through the foundation's Summer Youth Partnership grant program.
The grantsranging from $500 to $2,000were awarded to 41 charitable organizations from June 1 to Sept.
1, with a total of $57,363 awarded, reports the Redding Record Searchlight.
"We're eager to see how this year's recipients will inspire and elevate the next generation, creating lasting impacts on their community and beyond," says Meredith Knowles, director of grantmaking at the foundation, which has awarded more than $117 million in grants and scholarships since 1972.
