The Daviess County Family YMCA in Washington, Indiana, has seen a steady increase in participants in its group exercise classes over the past few years.
"During 2023, 925 people of ages ranging from 13 to those in their 90s participated in our group exercise classes," Jessika Henning, the Y's Aquatics Director and Group Exercise Coordinator, says in a press release.
"Our classes have experienced growth in the last two years, especially at the start of 2024, which made us realize the need to update and expand our equipment in the group exercise room."
A $750 grant from the Our Community Foundation will help the Y buy new cycling mats, hand weights, an additional rack for hand weights, storage equipment, and a CD player to replace a non-functioning sound system, reports the Herald-Times.
"The Foundation is delighted to provide support for this new equipment, ensuring that the YMCA remains a vital and vibrant organization here, which makes Daviess County an even better place to live, work, and play," says the foundation's executive director.
