Delaware's Next Generation of Southern Delaware fund for young professionals has awarded $7,000 in grants to three local organizations.

The Green Beret Project, First State Community Action Agency, and Sussex Pride each received $2,500 grants, the News Journal reports.

The Green Beret Project will provide healthy meals to youth in Dover, ensuring they get at least one healthy meal per day.

The agency will also provide food for families if it is made aware of a household in need.

Sussex Pride will support self-management and recovery training for facilitators in Sussex County.

Next Gen South was created to raise funds and support needs specific to local communities.

Since its inception, the fund has awarded more than $100,000 in support of initiatives that address underlying social challenges faced by the most vulnerable Delawareans in the region.
