Gov.
Phil Murphy's administration has announced $7 million in grants for projects that will "enhance and modernize local stormwater management practices and infrastructure in the face of worsening impacts from climate change," the state's environmental protection commissioner says, per the Star-Ledger.
The grants, awarded through the state's Infrastructure Investment Tour, "are funding projects in all corners of the state that will mitigate flooding and improve the ecological health of our waterways," the commissioner says.
Perth Amboy will receive $438,512 for six "green infrastructure" projects designed to better mitigate combined sewer system overflows, reports NJ.com.
"At the same time, we must acknowledge that we have much work to do to address New Jersey's pressing water infrastructure needs, estimated at $30 billion," the commissioner adds.
