One of the nation's top clean-energy advocates is stepping down from his post at the end of the year, the Washington Post reports.
Lew Milford, who started the Clean Energy Group in 1993, is stepping down to spend more time with his family.
"It's time for me to move on," he tells the Post.
Milford's advocacy for clean energy has earned him the title of "visionary" from the group's board of directors.
"To call Lew Milford a 'visionary' doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the work Lew has undertaken for CEG, for the environment, and the future of resiliency," says board chair Brian F.
CEG is planning to announce a new deputy director in the coming months.
Milford's work focused on bringing clean energy to under-served communities, as well as advancing energy equity, according to the group's website.
He's also been a vocal critic of the industry's rush to burn hydrogen in power plants, which releases harmful levels of nitrogen oxide in environmental justice communities.
