The Wallace Foundation is planning on investing in university level programs for training school principals. The Washington Post reported that in 2011 they pledged $75 million to better train and evaluate principals and they have commissioned research into what produces effective school leaders. They have found that most superintendents are not happy with the current principal-preparation programs.
The current five year, $47 million dollar program will go toward redesigning as many as six programs. This will be based in part on recommendations from superintendents and administrators in school districts that neighbor the colleges near the universities that are selected for the programs.
