Illinois high school students Noah Campbell, Aarnav Jain,Ruqayah Wafa, and Sadie Warne took home top honors at the Illinois Junior Academy of Science's State Science Exposition last weekend, winning awards for their environmental research, Phys.org reports.
According to a press release from the Illinois EPA, the awards are given to students who have shown "innovative ways to prevent or address contamination in the environment," including pollution prevention, the remediation of air, land, or water, or the study of pollution in the environment.
The four winners will now move on to compete in the National Junior Academy of Science competition in Washington, DC.
