Teachers in North Carolina can now apply for up to $2,000 in grants to fund innovative educational projects.

The Four County Electric Membership Corporation's Bright Ideas Education Grants, which started April 1, are open to teachers in grades K-12 in the state, the Charlotte Observer reports.

"In partnership with outstanding educators, FCEMC seeks to bring creative learning to life through this program," the utility says in a press release.

"The Bright Ideas grants are designed to fund projects that can make a significant impact on student learning and engagement."
